Stan Diener - 1953 KK

The 1953 KK is a rare beast. Few were made, but we don't know just how many. We've only found one piece of KK literature besides the 1954-and-later Spare Parts Catalogs. The KK had special valves, valve springs, tappets, and camshafts. In a departure from usual practice, some of the valve train parts are listed as -R (racing) parts in the normal production catalog.

The AMA held an event at Mid-Ohio Race Track in 2007 to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Sportster. Willie G. Davidson and his wife flew in by helicopter. There were 5 K-models on display, including Stan's KK. Stan found it a bit surreal talking with Willie G. about K-models.

Both 19" and 18" wheels were available in 1953. Stan recently changed from 19" to 18" to give the bike a better look. Did he succeed? Here's the new look at Wauseon 2017.
