I'm working on the original primary cover on my 62 XLCH. Unfortunately, it was sitting in a box for many years, and developed some rust/pitting on the "dome". So I'll have to fill and sand to get that smooth. The rest of the cover escaped the rust.
It's a two-piece unit where the "dome" is spot-welded to the main cover.
Question: did Harley fill the spot welds prior to painting? Or, as I suspect, did they just shoot it as is ?
How about the inside - any special paint?
