Thanks Patrick!

As it is *somewhat* related to the oil tanks (in their ability to be mounted to downtubes a la the XLCHs), can anyone here comment further on the postulation that KRMs and KHRMs used the KR frames (no brackets on rear downtubes, lug on bottom right frame rail)?
I have heard that the KHRMs had shorter front downtubes for increaed road clearance in early literature.

Hi Simon,

From what little I've seen of KRMs and KHRMs over the years, they all differ slightly one from the other and looks very much like they were assembled from order only and with whatever bits were on hand...

One was on ebay 2 years ago as a pile of rusty bits, but all the important bits were mostly early KR so deffo OEM (frame with extra tab, peanut tank with big KR tap on the left and nothing on the right etc...), so a nice one for the guy who got it at a bottom price...

Here's a period photo I found recently on the net with 2 KRMs...

Wow - a non high pipe paired with the Wico...
I remember the very bike with the tan tank - I was bidding at around 3 am with dodgy connectivity. It was a bargain.

Seems that the KRMs had the thin K shocks rather than the big ones too.

Sorry for the thread high jack but piecing info about these bikes has been somewhat of an obsession...

Slowly forming the basis for how the project should turn out now - thanks for the info!

just to throw in my 2 cents my hd competition racer manual lists
kr as 3 0r 6 quart
kr-tt 3 or 6
xlr-tt 3 quart only
tried to add some scans of the old racer manual but file is too big to load on here

"Unboxed" rear mount?

What year did the sump on the under left side of the oil tank appear? Thanks, RL

Yet to see a KR OEM fitted with the 6 quart oil tank, it's just a bit big for a flat tracker and the mileage covered in average races distances...

But I can confirm the 6 quart won't fit an XLRTT, the rear rocker box is in the way by a big margin unless the front of the oil tanl is drastically chopped...

Wheel sizes... Quite a few guys raced KRs with 21" up front as well...
