2 petcock holes on xl tank

Whats the story on the sportster tank with 2 petcock holes 1 on the right in center and 1 on the left towards the rear?

I think that is so you could use them on the K left side feed or XL right side feed...perhaps KR/XR as the Carburetor is on opposite sides for them. Erik K

KR's and maybe some XLR's had them on the left because of leaning left on dirttrack. Not sure if they had a right petcock too. Some guys running flattrack with a stock XLCH tank would put another petcock boss on the left side. I didn't one or two of these for guys back years ago. Ron

Double bung tanks used 58-65 XLCH- Not sure on K's.

I was told when there was no petcocks on CHs back in the day, when you were done riding you drained the tank via the second bung.

This example was on my 65 CH, survivor/barn find.
