really!
i saw this bike sell at last summers harrisburg auction.
mike quinn correct?
thats its rear wheel visible at the end of the row.
this 62 is missing from above picture of his 59-65 ch lineup.
this was at the auction too.
i guess mr q. didnt get his hands on a 63ch.
that would have completed the 59-65 wraparound tins.
but to his credit he made up the missing 63ch with TWO op examples of the rarest road legal xl's ever made.
two 1963 xlh's
this red one is very, very, very, nice.
but his blue one- egad!
if you really know short frame sportsters, you know how incredable rare an op example is.
but 2.
this blue one stop every sportster nut in his tracks.
super. just super.
back to the tins---
the 59, 61, 62 were 99/100 point restos. (the 61 had a L62 mag and tach kit). top quality restos. and im pretty sure i know what im lookin at.
the 60, 64 and 65 were op.
the op 60ch had the correct one yr only independent duals from the accy cat.
the seat is a wide tuck and roll screw cover bates.
i couldnt stay away from it. id walk away- 5 mins later i was kneeling down looking some other little detail.
i wanted that bike bad.
then the bidding started and i shrunk.
it sold.
for 16,000.
yes sixteen.
the 64 was possibly, no scratch that, WAS the most unmolested and UNDAMAGED pre 68ch i ever saw. this bike was original beyond type written description. it was incredible how well it had survived. took my breath away.
this was the most incredible short frame colletion i ever saw.
there were lots of k and kh too. i can dig up those pics if you guys want them.
