I run KH Cams, KR heads(-60R), I just sleeved the cylinders, fixed the fins and added new nitrite valves, .010 pistons and a Delorto PHM38mm carburetor. Pops right off - and the Delortos run really sweet on these. The -60 rims I had in the upstairs closet ! Forgot I had 'em. I run that Coke Firestone 4.50-18 rear and a Duro 4.00-18(Pirelli copy) on the front. This bike was originally a chopper, stored in an old hog confinement all covered with that green aluminum disease. The frame is original, swingarm, shocks, fender struts, cases and still has many original bolts and fasteners. About all the major parts I had to fix and/or modify. What's always most important to me is that it starts, runs and stops - and the originality is sometimes lost with me - I just like the look - and they sound so sweet - I just love these K Models like many of you . . . I'm ready for Summer ! How about you ? :)

One of the KRM/KHRM variants. Is it OEM or one of John Penner's? Nice.

The OEM heat guards for those pipes are expensive, being shared with the Knuckleheads...

High pipe is KHRM only... KRM had std low level pipes.

Penner made it....but just slightly different with 1. Flanges to fit K style cylinders, and 2. A neat little slide-in adjuster rear pipe section to get it on and off a bit easier. The pipe is 1 1/2" OD, so you need a step-up adapter of some type to fit the original H-D muffler. It sure sounds nice, quiet with just the right low rumble ! Not a bolt on deal by any means, I got like hours messin' with different brackets, spinning out spacers, different length bolts - but it's on solid and looks correct now. Kirk (at Sporty Parts) in California has the pipes if you want one... Thanks fellas...Hey, I know what ya like... ;)

Actually there were two different versions of the K & KH high pipe options. A photo of the two is attached. The larger of the two pipes is the factory option that is commonly seen. It is a two piece assembly joined in the middle. The smaller of the two pipes is the one John Penner reproduced. John got the pipe from Boll Banes, a old racer. We believe that the smaller of the two was made by HD but so far can't find any reference to it in the literature. I tried both pipes while restoring the Tom White KRM. Both worked well and settled on the factory pipe.

DaveC, Do you have a contact number for John Penner? Had it at one time can't find it. Thanks, Ron
