K Model engine

Postby Jim Garrett » Sat Apr 20, 2019 9:04 am

I have a K Model engine I would like input from others on value. I would like to move it. Serial number has been tampered with in the past (I don't need a lecture, I didn't do it and I don't advocate it.) Engine has been setting for several years. It is a trap door, no cracks or repairs, bored to +.020", has one KH head, one KHR head, has KHK cams. No carb. Has what looks like a complete or mostly complete transmission and clutch, has primary and cam covers. I realize the serial number thing will affect value but this would make a great racing engine at the least so might be of interest to some. I can bring it to Oley if someone wants it. Thanks for any advice offered. Jim

Hi Jim,
What are the right and left side Belly numbers Belly Numbers? For a sense of value, if you parted it out I would place the following values assuming parts are in good shape:
Kicker Cover-$200-$250
Cam Cover-$100-$125
Primary Cover (KH)-$80-$100
Rear Motor Mount-$50-$75
Right Side Case-$250-$350
Left Side Case, Bad Numbers-????
KHK Cams-$500-$700 (I've paid less and more)
KHK Flywheels-$200-$350
KH Transmission Complete-$250-$350
Primary/Clutch-$200-$300
KH Cylinders Pair- $300-$450
Heads Pair-$200-$400
Timer-$75
Nuts, Bolts, Valve Covers, etc.-$100
Low End Value=$2505. High End Value= $3625. Some of my values may be optimistic but I have seen these parts bring this kind of money. A 53K motor just sold on eBay for $3972.
Good luck Jim,
Jerry

Good estimates Jerry, I have to say that from what I've seen people asking for KH Jugs, Primary Cover and KHK cams are getting really hard to find, for me at least. I think those values should be about doubled. Erik
