Fuel Cap

Postby Mayday53 » Sun Mar 29, 2015 11:06 am

OK, this seems like a trivial question, and maybe it is...but, where can I find a fuel cap for my 53 K model tank? I ordered a couple so far and neither one fits, they are far too small despite the company selling them saying they were OEM caps. One guy told me to take the tank to the local farm machinery store and I can find the exact same cap, albeit a repop of sorts.

Any thoughts....

Interesting, I am looking for a fuel cap, mirror, kicker, fork cans, and glass tranny cap myself. I do not have any of those items. I have original shock covers, minus one cap which the shop that was working on it "gave" to the powder coat guy because he thought I would be OK with it. I also have the original fork tubes which have a bit of pitting but with a rechrome I believe would be fine. Lastly, I have the original bubble bags which need quite a bit of work to make look new again, but all there. I have an original model 52 Genny which needs a bit of work; i opted to go 12v on the bike. Lastly, I have the original shocks which cleaned up beautifully, but I opted to put V-Twin progressives on it to update the ride quality.

I have a good used one 20 bucks, or Bills Custom Cycle in Bloomsburg Pa sells NOS ones for around 30 bucks, check his site on e-bay or the internet.
