1955 KHK

Postby Herb » Tue Oct 01, 2019 11:10 am

Greetings:
Long time follower; First time poster.
I have a 1955 KHK that I have been collecting parts for the past 25 years..I had brought the engine to a local shop(Big mistake!) and he took it all apart and let it sit for the past 8 years or so..
I managed to get it back before he moved, or passed.
I've decided that I will attempt to assemble this myself..I've done many British bikes over the years, and one 49 Panhead.

I'm going to need parts at some point; I'm in the process of trying to figure out what I have and what I need.

I do know that I would possibly like to find a shop that is familiar with these bikes, and have them look over the cases...maybe even have the flywheels rebuilt..depending of course on cost.

Any thoughts?

Thank You
Herb

You may have to visit a few forums to find a good shop in the Boston, Mass. area. Try "Harley K Model" on Facebook. Also: http://www.caimag.com/forum/forum.php. Antique Motorcycle Club of America's form is worth using: http://www.antiquemotorcycle.org/bboard/forum.php

Where are you located?
Sounds like you need face to face contact with the person doing the work.

I would give Richard Barsotti at Wasted Spark Motorcycles a call. He is in Vermont.

Can't help if you need local, but make sure the shop knows how a K is very different from a Sportster or 45, many mistakes possible.
If you going to ship it, try Truett in Wichita.
