Hi from Great Britain

Postby thefrenchowl » Sun Jun 28, 2015 6:01 pm

Hi, I knew you were on line for a while, but as usual, way too busy at work...

Anyway, a few here know of me so just for the others, a few words.

I'm Patrick, a Frenchman, and have been living in GB since 1984...

Around 1986, I acquired this rough 1954 KHK that wasn't quite OEM...

Well, it never was to be OEM while in my care, so it has been a long succession of specials since that time...

In its latest form, it is supercharged, twin magnetos/sparks and runs on a diet of pure methanol via a 1"7/8 S&S MGAL. Estimated 3/4 to 1 litre of methanol per mile...

Dr Dick and Model H, plus Richard from G.B. and Graham from Australia helped us achieve 121.775mph on the Bonneville Salt Flats in 2013

Our return in 2014 sadly saw the Flats fully flooded and Speed Week cancelled.

Saving for next year...

Bye for now,

Patrick

Hello Patrick. It is great to hear from you. Your Bonneville K is awesome, I wish you all the best of luck on the salt. And hopefully the weather will be cooperating upon your return. Erik K

The French Owl - you don't do yourself justice. You've been racing the K and XL models for a long time. You fired up the excellent website http://www.harleykrxlrtt.com/ which has a lot of great documentation on K/XL racing models. My 1954 KH has the double valve spring kit, as documented on your website with the oddball cylinder base nuts. From your site, I know that these are factory racer stuff, not homemade hacks.

You've contributed a number of Competition items to our website, and we thank you for them. Most of the racer guys are lost in their own little worlds, but you've transcended that, and helped us regular K/KH/XL guys get a grip on what was happening in the racer world.

We thank you, and hope you will continue to contribute to http://www.harleyKmodel.com

Thanks,
Dave H.

Thanks for the welcome!!!

The KHK looks like this now, with a full Peel Mountain Mile fairing replica, but still untried, that was taken just before I crated the bike for Speed Week 2014...
