Buddy Seat Hardware

Postby Promod117 » Fri Feb 23, 2024 12:10 pm

Looking for some information on the mounting hardware for the buddy seat, specifically, the bolts and spacers used to mount the rear bracket.

Can someone provide me the length and OD of the spacers, 52605-52? OR if someone has a couple they're willing to part with.....

As for the bolts, they are listed as 4826 in the '56 book. 1/2-24 x 1-3/4. (I'm guessing that is a typo) In the later books they're listed as 1/2-20 x 1-7/8". Strange thing is, 4826 is still an active number and it's a 1/4-20 allen screw......

My question regarding the bolts, if anyone has this set up, are the heads plain, CP 10xx or Circle F? and what is the real length?

Thanks for any info!

Hi Paul,

glad to help :) -- assuming that my early buddy seat uses the original hadware, I attached the measurements.

the heads of the bolts are plain ... covered with remains of black paint? The spacers are steel and also painted black, bolt size is 1/2-20 x 1 7/8 ...

That is great information JerrryR and xlh59! I really appreciate both of you taking the time to solve this riddle!

While you're at it, can we confirm the hardware that mounts the bracket to the frame? I have found many discrepancies in the parts books, especially when it comes to star washers.

That being said, I do have witness marks on the bracket that would indicate a 7232 was used. Cad or parkerized?
Are the 3974 bolts 5/16-24 x 3/4"? CP 1038s? Any finish remaing to indicate cad or parkerized?
Can't tell from your pic, xlh59.

I suppose the spacers could have been painted black.

And thanks for the washer dimensions, JerrryR! I think I have those but can now confirm. Were those also parkerized?

My 3974 bolts are CP bolts and parkerized ... but they did not come with the seat that time.

You will find all the finishes here as well.
