Hi Ron,
Torringtons needle bearings on the crank side, but no lips behind as on Sportsters, I will have to sort that, small holes plus punch in to make the ID smaller and keep the Torringtons away from the flywheel (how do I know they can travel in??? have a guess ...).
Std brass bushes in the timing cover, KHK cams 1 to 4, narrow gears as expected. No spring loaded breather bits.
It's all quite tight and next to no play.
Still looks like the engine was raced at some points, it had plenty of dismantles and small blow ups, twice on the primary side.
Sommat happened as well on the timing side, hole for gene is deformed by impact and the bottom where the casting number is was broken once.
Some other bits of small welding here and there that seem to indicate a porous casting repair. Maybe by 59, they forgot at "E" how to cast these cases ??? !!! ...
It has an alloy 4 top bolts rear engine mount...
Forgot to say, trap door is Sportster type, as expected if machined in 1959, but the original trap door from the supposedly broken OEM cases is there, sadly missing the conical dowels.
Best bit to come yet!!! I'll post more photos soon...
