Odd Kicker Cover

Hi Everyone,
I hope you all are doing well and getting ready for a great Superbowl Sunday. The other day I was looking at my kicker covers and noticed something that had escaped me in the past with this cover. You can see it is the early version with the extra meat to the rear of the worm gear hole. Notice where my finger is pointing there is no half circle hole. It appears to be Harley and not aftermarket based on the underside casting number. I believe it was probably used by a racer based on the metal removed for less weight? Any ideas as to its original usage?
