The info says KHK light lifters. So did the regular K models use lifters with a solid body and the KHK use 45 lifters with 2 holes?

Both Jim’s and S&S make tappets with drilled bodies, but don't know of any hollow adjusters. The weight of the parts made by Jim’s is 74 g, and I don’t know what the weight of the S&S part is. If the S&S part and Jim’s part have the same body thickness, the S&S part having the larger holes should be lighter. Recently ordered some S&S tappets so will post when I weigh them. Don't know that 5-10 g difference in valve train weight is so critical on our machines since a flathead valve train has a fairly easy life without the extra mass of a rocker arm and pushrod to return, and the low spring force that is not magnified through a rocker arm.

What's the price for the S&S? Do they come in oversize?. I don't care much for Jim's stuff. Seen too many broken pinion shafts that were made by Jim's

The S&S lifters can be ordered in std and +0.005" OS. I think they retail for ~ $350 but you can find them for less, as shown at the link below. I think you can also purchase just the bodies with no adjuster, which can account for a significant savings. Another nice feature of the S&S product is that there is a wrench flat on top of the body so you can secure the body, and not torque it when making a lifter adjustment.

To follow-up on this, an order for S&S tappets resulted in disappointment since this tappet is no longer offered. Opted for Sifton Lightning tappets in 0.005" OS which weighed 83.3 g/tappet, so on the heavier end of the spectrum and about the same as K and KH tappets (see Starcain's weights given above). In appearance these are conventional looking K, KH, tappets with 2 large dia holes through the body of each.
