Also, right about the frame, it's a 68 frame with straight rear down tubes. I believe that was the last year for that type. I could be wrong.

From 1967 to 1969 Harley used two frames. The straight leg for the XLCH and the offset to accommodate the larger battery used on the XLH. Starting in 1970 only one frame was used.

I thought it was in the late 60's they stopped making the straight tubes, but I thought the stretch was to accommodate the starter.

I wouldn't waste my time and money trying to make something others already have. If you are comfortable with the way it is set up, get it running and spend your time & $ where it counts: riding a fun bike!

When I got my 56 KHK in 91 it was with the intention of putting the engine in a Rickman type frame. Got harder to do the more it was ridden as it just felt right. Well 28 years later the engine has never left as the bike is so comfortable, also handles very well with the Metzelers.

Yes, they seem to be OEM shocks with aluminum spacers (like the racing type), but if you look at the top of the shocks, you see that instead of a spring retaining plate they use the bottom cam support plate also on the top.

cheers

This may be a little crazy but ya think they're KRTT shocks put on upside down?

Without a doubt! Very rare and pricey.
