Hi guys, been reading the threads, you can go to HD hummer parts and get a repro of the tailight internal connector, and if you have a 59 to 64 xlch they also have the the headlight hi/lo switch. Joe

I got a chance to finish this. It turns out you need to trim the ears off the base and reverse the ground clip. Than you can slide it up into the lamp to the stock depth. When the ground clip is flush with the housing that pits it at the stock bulb depth. Drill a small hole in housing and ground clip and retain with a screw. That works well to get you going with a new socket. Erik K

Good news you can purchase the original socket from Harley Hummer .com its the exact part # as in the parts book #68155-34 problem is its very expensive with the shipping $39.61 crazy money! but I did order 1,Also I found a rubber boot part #500165 on an automotive site " American auto wire" looks to be a good replacement well see when I receive it,also becomes very expensive with shipping ready for this $8.00 for the boot and $11.40 for shipping I purchased 2 no difference in the shipping. So if someone needs 1 let me know we can split the cost. Thanks

It will be nice to see the repop socket. For general or custom socket/tailamp repair it's hard to beat the $6 one I posted. Made of steel and rubber. Do what you want with it. Erik K
