Here is a KHRM seen on Facebook - hope it's ok to post here. Quite original but looks as if some parts have been swapped out:

thanks so much for your valuable contributions and pictures. Both bikes seem to have -57 kicker covers?

About batch production:
Of course I was not there in 1955 and honestly speaking I now nothing about the reality of motorcycle production from this time. Still, from a planning perspective it would make a lot of sense to me to assemble at least 10 or 20 bikes in one go (as extra parts need to be mounted). Patrick, I would not talk about that topic and it might be coincidence, but I found these serial numbers (just for additional information):

These are the cases I got from Mike:

These are cases that came up in a caimag post:

And this bike is from a Mecum auction in 2015 with engine number 55KHRM1273:

So the 54 KHRM doesn't come with a kickstand ? (can't see it on the brochure) What are those shocks covered with? I have a few of those magnetos that are on the 54

For what it's worth about frames the yellow Mercum auction 55KHRM1273 appears to have a -55 neck casting frame with the reinforced downtubes. I am aware of about 5 of these frames. All of them have been date coded D5 or E5. Having said that the earliest date coded production K frame I am aware of had an E3 code but I have seen 3 K racing frames that were date coded C3. My take away from this is either the KHRMs were made in late 55 or the reinforced downtube frame with the new neck casting may have had its origins with racing issues and then used for the street in the late 55 model year?

The 55KHRM1273 was "Restored in TT trim from basket case" and does also not have the "lifted" brake linkage, so I think its not a good reference for the frame. As you say, the frames with the -55 neck are date coded D5 or E5, which does not match a serial number of 12XX -- rather a J4 or K4 coded frame would match? My cases have -54 belly numbers just like my early 55KH.

It will be hard enough for me to find a I4,J4,K4,L4 frame ... :) -- and I cant really use my A6 frame ...
