Hi,

From a request from Spacecoast:

No foot pegs shafts or side stand, milled tomahawk, so likely a KR frame, not a KRTT.

January 1956 frame code, deffo not for XLR-TT!!!

Any thoughts?

Patrick

No Bill,

That was an eBay auction a long time ago...

I was thinking like you at the time, 56 KH frame moded for racing, but the milled tomahawk did sound to me like factory... Can't see a private owner bothered with that and the exhaust bracket...

Actually this frame is in my possession. I am even not sure, when I bought that frame and where, but could have been Ebay Germany -- and it was a cheap. The frame was fittet with a hardtail that had a "tilted" rear axle. Only modification seems to be the lightened bracket on the bottom of the frame, the cleaned crash guard mount and the bolt added for a different gas tank. No remains of a side stand mount visible -- and no re-paint visible as well.
Unfortunately the former owner has removed the casting number on the neck. I assume, he thought this is the "ID" of the frame and removed it for licensing reasons. In gemany a frame must have a frame number to be street legal and the number always stays with the title, not the frame.

I will post more pictures (any special request?) and will weight the frame these days. I was always wondering about this frame. Unfortunately not correct for the 55KHRM.

Happy christmas!

As promised a few more information on the frame:

first a pic of the neck casting number. No big surprise here. Although the major part of the casting has been ground away, the -56 on the neck is clearly visible.

Another pic of the lower footpeg bracket. Either the kick stand mount has been ground away very carefully or it never has been there.

The seat casting has additional tapped holes for (I assume) a "visible spring" seat. The holes on both sides are very accurate and are angled, so no backyard job here.

Overall weight of the frame is 33lbs -- I used my luggage scale for that, so maybe not too accurate. My 59 XLH frame (J8) weights 35lbs with the same scale.
