Erick, that's possibly because Chet Herbert of Herbert cams had a Harley fuel bike called "The Beast" that was the fastest thing around at the early 50's drags, car or motorcycle. And I believe he was the first to make roller cams for cars, so it's not hard to imagine he used Harley roller tappets for his car cams. His grinds were pretty innovative in their time as was he.

H-D roller tappets were used in the 1937-62 Chevy L6 "stovebolt" engine by sleeving the tappet bore down from .990" to .731".
