So 57 KR 1002 is the 2nd motor made that year, 1021 the 21st etc... Some years they made more than 100 KR, so you then get 11xx or 21xx

But those numbers would have been put on in the run through the numbers for all the variations for the particular Harley model or type KR XLR XLCH XLH.
There would not be a 1021 KR 1021 XLR 1021 XLCH and they would have followed the Harley odd number 1xxxx or even number 2xxxx. You're saying the race motor numbers were all made and stamped at one time in consecutive numbers? 1021 1022 1023 1024 1025 etc?
