Cleaned up the drums today...yeah, they look too pitted to put my life on the line just to keep original parts...

Yeah, that looks pretty bad. I did put a vernier on the two drums I have and noticed there was a difference, about 10 or 20 thousandths. One drum does have surface rust. Sorry, I forgot to get an absolute measurement. More troubling, I think there is a crack in one bearing area, but I am not sure this is critical as long as the drum itself is not cracked-- it looks like just the sleeve is cracked, about 12 o'clock in the picture.

After months and months of searching for an acceptable part, I may have found it. I ordered a NOS front brake drum (43600-52) from Bills Custom Cycles in PA. Hopefully they are reliable, I have not done any business with them before. I will update the experience, positive or negative, once I get the part in hand!

Please let me know if you have ever done business with them.

Bills Custom Cycles is a top notch family business. I have used him since 1989. Just be patient and polite! Haha. Otherwise he will toss you out...seriously great people. Had about 15-20 semi trailers full of NOS from years back. That's a rare hub lucky score!! Bill is known to have some rare NOS just ask. They used to do fork bushing, wheel building, cylinder sleeving, you name it. Erik K ps his Museum is awesome. Go see if near by.
