Ignition Switches

Postby Chopperdave » Sun Nov 08, 2015 4:15 am

Hello! I am finishing a somewhat resto of a 56 KH. Its a beauty. was put together by a man in the mid 1980's he passed and it was in his wifes living room until recently. then it showed up on my door.

I fixed the carb issues and intake leaks and am working on the wiring now.
my question is about the ignition switches, i see from the tech section that they are briggs switches are they still available from BS?

I have none of the neat switch covers but want to put as close to original stock style switches in it.

Thanx for the help!

dave

Hi,

These switches are obsolete, rare and expensive sadly.

Too many punters for too few items... Same for the spring return covers...

But plenty of other switches can be made to fit and work...

Nice bike, but you'll soon have the "Correct Resto 100percenters" guys on your back!!!

Just enjoy it... ; - )

Dave,

Welcome to the site.

Below is a link to the flapper.

There is a thread on another forum on making other keys and flappers work. If I can find the post, I will post it.

Nice looking K.

not worried about the resto guys, i've done em, but no one wants to pay the money to have a bike restored any more, lucky all i deal with are bikes that get riden, so little stuff doesnt matter to me or my customer.
yes id love to find the correct parts but its not the end of the world, i need to take a good look at my nacelle top on that bike first anyway...

that and 45" flatheads that are getting raced on a flat track, using mixes of old and new parts...

So, i looked at the dash and there seem to be holes for the switch covers but no switches, as there should be two each side i believe. i was only in the shop for a few minutes and i took a quick pic of the dash.
remembered seeing pics of some dashes on here so i gotta find em now..
