Did you guys catch this beautiful midnight blue XL at the Meacham auction in Las Vegas last week? The bid goes on… had a high bid of $50k but wasn't enough. Ben Meacham told me the reserve is $60k but owner would consider offers.

Beautiful Bike . One of Pappy Pierce's out of Dekalb , IL. If the current owner wants that kind of money , maybe he should ask some of the people on this forum for advice on making it more correct ! First look shows me at least 7 incorrect bits . Anyone want to play ?

Ha, I only wish my KHK would be worth that much...then again, I am building it to be a rider not a show bike. I have seen a couple 55 KHK's go over the $18K mark, but they are usually "special" bikes restored down to the number of threads on the fasteners.

Good start brotherJerry , but I think that you meant later CH fender !
Mike , I just reread my original post and realized that I probably sound like an arrogant dick ! Whoever did this build did a great job . I think as we network and nitpick we raise the bar on correct restorations . I hate to think how bad my bikes would stand to scrutiny . Look in the area around the carb . Another area is around the horn , year correct , but not for this early VIN .

A restoration is never correct...

It is very nicely done, but I'll play along with what I see besides what Jerry and Jack have already mentioned. It has a T-3 vs. Cycle Beam sealed beam; vinyl covered brake and clutch cables vs. cotton braided; later rear brake lever with the reversed rivets; what appears to be an original choke lever on the left side, but then it has the 58 choke lever on the backing plate; and I don't see a speedo cable. For that price it must be original paint?
