Tappet blocks

Postby Mike » Tue Mar 01, 2016 3:25 pm

Two of my tappet block have feed or drain holes and the other two do not. The case has a drain or feed at each of the four holes. I'm confused! Thanks, Mike

These are oil feed holes, you should have 4 holes that match the 4 holes in the right crankcase...

Are they all K? not the odd WL ones?

That what I thought feeds...those are 52-53 K style looks like. Maybe they forgot to put the feed holes in? The 54 and newer takes the covers with 6 long flats and six short ones for correctness. These pictured are six sided 52-53 type. They made the upper covers longer in 54 as the cylinders are 3/4" taller. The book doesn't break down exactly when they went from 6 to 12 sides but I have seen the 12 ones on KHs and KHKs over the years.Erik K

Not sure what all I have here on this bitsa 55KHK motor. Looks like I'm searching for tappet blocks now - just another piece of the puzzle! Thanks, Mike

Looking at those it would be tricky to machine that hole at an angle...so you need 2 blocks and 4 covers. Are the uppers right? You want all the to be silver also going together. Cad or (Silver paint?) Erik K

They look like front tappets without the oil holes. I have some nice ones I do not need if you are interested. Joe
