Frame ID

Postby hayleyl » Mon Apr 04, 2016 8:30 pm

Hello all. Wondering if anyone could help with identifying a frame I have.
Number under front of seat mount is 3C - neck casting looks like an E in a circle and 7583-52.
Frame has no oil tank brackets, no side stand bracket. Right tomahawk has 47650-52 and on the inside of that is E in a circle and the number 2.
Left tomahawk has 47652-52. Front seat mounts have been removed at some stage. Also the bare frame is really, really light. Cheers Hayley.
I'll see if I can attach some pics.

Were the oil tank and side stand brackets cut off, or were they never there?

The weld on the neck does not look like the factory rerake job of 1953 frames for 1954 production. For those, they did not cut the neck off the horizontal tube, and there's no weld up there. Yours looks like the neck was completely removed. 3C date is probably too early for the 1954's anyway. The footpeg mounts look very odd.

Really, really light? Jerry - Mr. Frame Master - help!

Side stand mont and oil tank mounts have never been there - there is no indication of them being cut off / removed. The frame weighs 17iib- the mystery seems to continue. Cheers Hayley (couple more pics attached).

The neck may have been raked/de-raked...nice weld for buzz box :D 7018? The footrest mounts look cut and threaded...strange one. Looks like un molested rear support tubes. 53KRM would of had a horseshoe oil tank stock. Maybe Dirt Track/ Racing mods on neck and pegs...Erik

Last pic with Big Twin floorboard mount ear is, I believe, the way a tab was put on the KR frame for the right side footpeg. Ron

That lug makes it look like a KR frame to me.

I have one with a similar neck mod - not sure if factory or otherwise.
