Hi, Grumpy,

99% of an XLA will be std 57 Sportster XL stuff, just buy the std parts book...

Nice 57 only air cleaner back plate/choke assembly on eBay at the moment...

I was reading about these just a little and it looks like some used the WLA air box and than they went to the std style air filter. Not sure when or what runs. Found more than just 57 XLA. Made a few years. Erik

Thanks for your replies. 57 Xla used an exclusive aircleaner housing and choke setup that connected to the oilbath air cleaner. Civilian a/c and choke are different. The bike also had skid plate, and of course the tank mounted tag. All other later xla's were different.
I would have thought someone out there has one of these bikes that I could get some pics and info from.
Cheers

One was recently doing all the US swap meets, but I can't find any links to it...

Check the photo gallery for pictures of a nice 1957 XLA . This bike has been to Oley several times and probably other meets.

Hello Grumpy - see if you can get yourself to 'Historic Winton' in North East Victoria. May 27-29 this year (I think). There is always a couple of XLA's there. Cheers Hayley
