Flame Spray repair

Postby ThumpStreet » Sun Apr 10, 2016 10:10 am

As my parts search continues in preparation for my 69 CH refurb I focused on the corroded original 67809-66 eyebrow.I chased down a few offers none of which were in any better condition than the original part for refinishing.Jerry R. then offered me an eyebrow from his personal shelf stock for reasonable price that opened the door to experiment with ways to repair the damaged surface without excessive metal removal.Flame spray process came to mind that is widely used in aviation and heavy industries. The process involves spraying molten alloy on the prepared parent part.It uses low heat which means no distortion and the surface is equal to or stronger than the original metal. It is machinable, can be plated and polishable.I think it could be a feasible process for repairing aluminum castings, rare steel primary covers even some rare engine internals.Anybody that might have a need for flame spray and contact John Traylor at Bones Flame Spray LLC. John's phone number 316-390-0176.E-mail:[email protected].
