Very true. Nice cases! The top KR racers had many engines, with the same numbers on the spares. They had to in order to pass tech after swap job. When we lost Roger Reiman RIP in 97 later I heard there were about 4 engines sold all with same numbers at one auction. Etc.

Hello mikeslemmon - not sure about screw numbers but both sets of my K series cases have provisions / casting for 10 screws. I have two tin primaries (no compensator), one has 10 holes (KR I'm led to believe ) and one has 9. I believe the 9 hole is XL series. I also have a wide clutch 1960's pressed tin primary cover (I think these were used by drag racers in the day) it only has 9 holes. I notice on both pics of Gene Payne's scooters on this site (61 and 70 XLRs) they have 9 screws. Maybe earlier XLR's had 10? Some one out there in K & Sportster land will know. Cheers Hayley.
