Handlebars to Forks to Wheel

Postby Zaemo » Thu Aug 04, 2016 8:33 am

Good day all,

What part of the front fork setup do you use to straighten the handlebar relationship to the front tire. If the bars feel slightly askew, would I loosed the bottom tree and put pressure on the bars and then tighten? Could the top fork tubes be bound in the top tree?

There is some deflection or flex in the front fork setup when the wheel is held in the chock and the bars are turned. How much is normal? There doesn't seem to be a lot to do to stiffen it.

Thanks,
Chad

My thoughts - most likely you have a bent fork tube, or both. There's no adjustment for what you see. If everything is good then it builds-up correctly. Possible triple tree problem but much more likely fork tube.

Good luck!

Thanks for taking the time, John. I started over again last night. One thing I didn't do before was to start with the tube caps. I had everything else loose and reinserted the upper tubes. I marked them and turned them 180 degrees to see if it reversed the problem.
It's much better now. I will have to drive it to see how it feels.
