KR KRTT XLR-TT XR

Postby thefrenchowl » Wed Dec 12, 2018 2:17 pm

Hi,

My old Harley racers website has been off air for a while now...

I couldn't update it anymore and the server was deaf to my requests so sod him...

However, a web archive site in the States has saved most of it and you can view it here:

https://web.archive.org/web/20071011184353/http://www.harleykrxlrtt.com/index.htm

Good on them...

When I get some free time, it is my intention to update it and make it better, but, you'll have to wait a bit...

Dave, this KR race site is not for selling anything, I hope it's OK to post it here.

So long, see ya,

Patrick

It's probably even of more use to tje members on here.

Patrick, have you considered asking some of the members on the forum to help you with a new website ? IPossibly we have web designers and graphic artists who are also K/Sportster freaks. To get the yomger crowd in your web sites these days need to be "responsive" - they scale to fit the device your using.

Hi Ferrous,

Maybe!!!

But the KR is a KR is a KR is an old motorcycle...

If youngsters are so hooked up with interactivity and their portable devices (there's the word VICE in there...), they won't find the relentless kick in a KR or on my site!!!

I don't even have a mobile phone...

I'm just human, I don't believe in proselytizing. I'm not after rewards either...

If chaps like what I do, fine, otherwise, it's no skin of me back...

AP, yes, thanks for the earlier lead...

Patrick, thank you for all you have done and hopefully will be able to do for a long, long time. You are a true Icon who has contributed much to the preservation of the accurate narrative of these very special bikes. I salute you.

I hate computers. But I can't really do without them.
Like Iron Mick I'm an (ex) assembly language programmer. I've been playing on them for nearly half a century. Gawd, makes me feel old.
I have a mobile phone. It's a $199 job so I can call for an ambulance when I fall over. I'm smarter than it is.
But I am getting worried that our bikes will only exist in museums while I'm still alive.
it's true, young kids today aren't much into old bikes and manual labor. But then, if they get no exposure to them I can't blame them. You don't know what your missing until someone tells you.

Thanks Bill for the praise, it is appreciated as its true value, coming from a man who's actually had his part to play in the Harley-Davidson race saga!!!

By the way, you're not doin' so badly yourself on the preservation side if from a slightly different angle.

I'm too young and too far away and wish I had only the 10th of what you've got!!!

Long live the Harley racers!!!

FE, I don't really like puters, but they are invaluable to sort out all the info available...

...But nothing else feel like having the bikes in the garage and their memorabilia on OEM print to peruse at one's private time in a study...

Still, we are living now the dying throws of the combustion engine, things will move on, when I can't tell, but they will.

So long, Patrick

I'm one of those 'millennials' everyone hates at the moment. I love working on my classics but accessing information isn't always the easiest on this subject. Chasing down Bruce Palmer and Allan Girdler books in the UK is a nightmare! And as for the parts...

Ah, AP, if ou think it's a nitemare in the UK just try and imagine living in The Colonies !
At least you still have access to JW Boon.
We don;t hate millennials. We don't hate anyone who likes K's and Sporty's. We like them. Unless they're a poloticiam but then they aren't people so don't count.

Years ago people used to play a game called "Treasure Hunt". Learning about and acquiring knowledge and parts is like that. It can be a fun game. The thrill of the chase. We far flung few have the advantage that when we o get something together and people see it, it's all the more astounding to them. I've seen at best 10 other Ironheads on the road here in the last 20 years and only 2 K's I can't tell you how many people have come up to me at the race track and said "What is that ?"

Before you spend hard earned cash on these books, let me tell you that apart from far and between pretty pictures, they won't give you one yota of light on KR or XLRs...

Although my XLR-TT is stored away from home at the moment, you're welcome to arrange a visit to see it in the flesh...
