I’m getting ready to paint a 66 peanut tank in hi-fi blue. Any information or pictures is appreciated. My specific questions are: are the birch white tank panels painted and the stripes use pinstripe tape? Are the decals vinyl and on top of the paint because clear coat wasn’t used then? Any closeup pictures of the layout would be great, especially the front and top which can’t be seen in most pictures. Thanks.
Every picture I’ve seen of a 66 including the 3 in this website’s gallery have a pinstripe approximately 1/4” wide bordering the birch white panel. I would like to know if this is paint or pinstripe tape? And are the decals vinyl or water transfer?
The stripes, both color and birch white are ¼’ wide. The gas tank sticker is a water transfer (decal) in 66, 67, and a one-year only vinyl sticker in 68. The white panel is painted over the color.
A thousand pardons Otis, I've been studying the 59ch. Every pic I've seen just shows the 2 colors without a hint of a stripe. I've been curious as to how they leveled and seamed the 2 colors together. MAYBE, they used black and striped the seam, but I sure can't make it out in the photo's. Perhaps the pro's will fill in that blank.
