52K 1523 - Belly Numbers "556" indicates a factory repair in 1956 - converting a 45" K model to 55" KH model while retaining original VIN. I have seen several of these and they all follow the same pattern. |
Case Casting Numbers and Date Codes
Here are some examples of crackcase casting numbers and date codes. As you can see, the cast cases and covers started with no casting dates, then around 1959 they started adding casting dates, then around 1965/1966 they could have used only casting marks without casting dates, or ? Just what the ‘Circle E’ and other miscellaneous marks mean is a mystery.
