Can anyone identify a tillotson HD-5A? Looks like the HD-1 series but doesn’t have an accelerator pump. Possibly a racing carburetor?

Can't go wrong for ident, it is stamped on top of the flange.

Does not have the choke axle bore machined, plus on the underneath, outside, steel cover for diaphragm and no accelerator pump.

On factory bikes, venturi remachined at HD.

On twin carb factory bikes, the front one has no idle adjustment.

All the things you said are what this carburetor has so let me rephrase my question; what did this come on originally?

It's part number 27155-66RA and is listed as 1967 and later KR, KRTT, XLR-TT and early iron XRs till 1971

Before that, there was a race kit available to modify the std Sportster Tillotson

But do not run that particular Tillotson 5A without the vent connected...

Otherwise the inlet valve doesn't know what AP is above the gas level in the tank...
