Piston ring end gap

Postby Otis » Mon Nov 23, 2020 10:24 pm

I have freshly bored cylinders and hastings rings. End gap on both compression rings is .014 for both sets. The dual oil rings are .050 end gap. Is this excessive or is that normal since there is 2 oil rings for each cylinder?

So just out of curiosity what is the specs for oil ring end gap on the 3 piece hastings oil rings? The instructions only state that the gap should be .010-.020. and don’t specify only compression rings. I guess with the oil rings having 2 rings plus the expander the gap isn’t as critical.
