New parts from Colony

Postby dlxl66elxl » Mon Jan 03, 2022 6:07 pm

All,

I just received the latest group of very scarce K and early XL parts from Colony. They are:

The early front brake tube bracket used from 52 to 58

The 62 to 66 steering damper spring.

I have included both OEM and Colony parts numbers on the photos. Both are a dead match to the OEM parts.

Once again, thanks to the folks at Colony for helping us do a better job of authentically restoring our bikes.

Dave

Appreciate the info on this. I’ve searched for the steering damper lock spring for more than a year with no results. As Colony does not sell retail and the product is a new release the retail dealers I have contacted still do not have them available. Any ideas on where I can get my hands on one?
Thanks

Dave,

What are the dimension differences from this new part compared to Colony’s prior offering with the same bracket part number? Colony # 2041-7.

The Colony parts are usually available from Low Brow Customs as they are about a block away from Colony. I believe they give AMCA members a 10% discount.
As to the dimensional differences between the later style clamp (somewhere in 58 and later) and the early one with the same OEM part number, the latest Colony "early style" clamp (52 to somewhere in 58) was duplicated using a known early NOS clamp supplied to Colony by the owner of a very low VIN 57 XL.
Hope all of this helps.

One more comment, I believe that the fasteners were parkerized from 52 to 68 and cad in 69 and later.
