Erik, I believe that is the incorrect throttle lever arm 27267-49 that you have pictured for a K Model. I believe the correct one is taller at 1-1/4" overall height.

My OP52 Arm and Lever

Hi Stan. This -49 Z shape short one came off a complete M53. I thought it was correct because it was on the carb and it would explain 52 “slow throttle” which became “fast throttle” in 53. The differences in design would do that. I know better to assume anything on Ks  Just because a part came on your bike doesn’t mean it belongs! However, I checked my OP 52 and you are Korrect, it has the tall arm like you posted with steel lever. It does appear to have Black paint under the crust also. So, how did H-D speed up the action on throttle? After looking over books it does show Panhead -48 Throttle Spiral Grip Sleeve 56220-48 for -52K with 56220-53 for 53 and up. Ok faster throttle solved. Back to Lever and Arm. Panhead parts Lever 27260-49 and 27265-49 look like the Carb parts you posted, with two holes for cable. 41-54 Book shows Z shape 2 hole on other model H-Ds through-54 except Panhead. 52-59 book shows one hole. That’s the hole story! Happy #FlatheadFriday everyone…and why are these photos turned sideways?? They are straight up in my phone…Erik

Erik, Man, thanks for posting the picture of your OP 52 K throttle lever arm. I was discussing the situation with a friend today and he mentioned he had a lever arm that looks exactly like the one you have pictured. We are thinking now that the lever arm in your picture is for 1952 only and in 1953, they went to the 27267-49 style like I have pictured. In the 1953 Spare Parts Book it shows the lever arm as a 27268-49 but lists the 27267-49 in the parts description. Not sure if that is just another parts book screw up or what. In the factory photo of the 1952 K motor right and left side, that's in the literature section, you can pretty clearly make out that the lever arm is as you have pictured. So, for right now, I think it is reasonable to assume that 1952 had its own lever arm and in 1953 they changed to the curved two-hole style. Do you suppose it had something to do with the faster throttle action for 1953?

Stan

Hi Erik,
Yes I was looking for the early choke handle and shaft for the M53. Did you put this up on eBay with the throttle lever? I saw the throttle lever but not the choke handle and shaft.
Or do you still have the choke handle and shaft? If so I will definitely take them.
Thanks for posting here & sorry it’s taken so long to catch up on my reading.
Rick
