Hi Patrick,
I have never seen a frame neck casting cut and welded like yours. I have no idea whether it was done at the factory or by someone in their garage. In answer to one of your questions a few post back my 18XX K VIN with the 554-3221 belly numbers has the cone trap door not the dowels.

Dave, the 63 tag-casting on your left 54KH case. Is that not a 1963 tag for a new cast replacement set? Never seen a casting like that on my original old case sets. Thought those items with those old numbers plus extra new tag were later. 63 and later replacement parts. Anyone have ideas on this? Erik K

I am curious about this as I have this 63 casting on some KH/XL parts, have to look when it warms up. Guess it wouldn't make sense since yours are non trap door. ?? Erik K
