I'm trying to disassemble my 1952-1955 style rear shocks. I started by using the procedure listed in the 1969 Service Manual, but it really only applies to the 1956-1966 ones. I compress the spring, but no matter how many degrees I turn the lower stud eye, it doesn't come apart.
The 1953 and 1954 Spare Parts Catalogs show a roll pin (604 in the illustration, but not in the parts listing), and there is a roll pin in my 54529-5x "rotating cam". Do I push this into the shock with a drift? Do I drill the pin out? Do I cast a voodoo spell and try to levitate the pin out of the hole? Help!
Dave
P.S. Back in the Miscellaneous section, 604 is listed as a 1/8" x 3/8" Roll pin
