Early 54 without trap door. I can't vouch for originality , but I put several hundred miles on it last fall before teardown and the oil stayed where it belonged.

Looks like you have it in the wrong hole brother Jerry . That will get you in trouble every time !

Another electric start K has surfaced on EBay....this time it's complete. Listed as a 1956 KHK. Sort of clever, but it seems to be a solution in search of a problem.

No doubt "all original" 56KHK electric start. I am getting tired of these people with non K parts selling them to unknowing K owners around the world as K parts when they are not. Just because some pos part came off a 57 Sportster being stripped doesn't mean it is right. Same for these Ks being stripped with Sportster parts being called K because they came off a "K". It really irritates me and mainly buyers when they find out they have been ripped off. It's bs and needs to be fixed. And NOS doesn't mean worn OEM get it together. The number of these misrepresented parts is steady if not increasing. So new guys beware. Ask any questions. Erik K

I dunno-the seller states that it's a 70s right case. I don't see an intent to defraud. Just a weird exercise in bike building. Looks like there's enough parts on it to be worthwhile for someone.

Sorry didn't mean this sale. Just talking about the listings that do come along as "K" parts when they are 80s Sportster or whatever. I had a friend in Japan new K owner that spend a lot of money 100s of dollars, for a repop Sportster horn that was listed as a 1955KH horn. That's stealing. If they don't know what they are selling they need to state that. That's what I'm tired of seeing constantly. Really nice for them to steal from the people that don't know just because they are greedy SOB.s

The problem with K cylinders on a Sportster lower firstly is the tappet bores are not tipped to matched the angled cams and angled valves. So straight off there's a problem. But Sportster guys might not know that. Secondly the cylinder skirt case holes are much larger than K. It's kind of nice to have the skirts backed up by the cases for stability. See the new Capitol K! 88" alloy barreled Flathead on a Sportster electric start five speed lower. Now that's how you do it! The team of Charley Karling and Anders at Flathead Power Sweden have got it done! Erik K

Shelby Cobra kit cars- there were a ton of them sold. Another cute one were the Ferrari 246s on a Pontiac Fiero chassis .

I saw a 54 FL with a home brewed electric starter about 10 years ago. ( circa late 50s early 60s). Crude but effective

That's rumoured to be upwards of $15,000.00 for the engine alone, and it's a bit fugly if you ask me... The cylinders and heads are more like U/UL on the outside (YYYAKKK), with K/KR shape inside...
