KR Left Number Side Case

Postby NicksGarage » Wed Mar 15, 2023 10:57 am

What is the difference in a KR Left side case and a std K case or Early XL Case?

I have a complete Cam side case and would like to complete the motor.

Thanks-
Nick

A huge ball bearing, instead of a Timken.

Does anyone have any photos of a left side KR case? I'm trying to identify the visual difference of a standard K and KR case.Thanks-

I have a set of cases, the left side has KR VIN, with casting number 24534 54 , doesn't appear to have an R in the casting number.

Belly Numbers are different too, looks like there was a repair at one point.
LHS= 555 - 1535
RHS= 757 - 59

I guess I need to split the cases and look them all over.

555-1535 is a 1955 K case not KR
757-59 is a 1957 Sportster case not a KR

Thanks, The 57 case or at least part of it must have been used to patch the Cam Side Case because it is definitely has K Lifters. :D

Guess I need to get it apart and look at all the internals.

Pics help! Not sure what’s all inside, BUT you have a tapered and keyed sprocket shaft which is what WR/KR’s have. Street K and sporty have a straight splined shaft.

Hard to tell from the one left photo but sorta looks like it has the adapter plate for a front mount mag? More pics will help figure out what’s going on. Right side??

You are correct, that was the WR motor with the Wico.
