Clutch Adjustment

Postby DaveAus » Sun Nov 05, 2023 5:25 am

Hi All,

I’m having trouble setting up the clutch in my KR.

I’ve had a look in the early sportster manual and it has 7 steel plates and 7 fibre plates.

The kit I purchased has 5 and 5 and I’m wondering if that’s the issue but it doesn’t seem like I could fit in any more

Any options would be appreciated.

Thanks

The KR clutch shells are narrower and only use 5 plates.

What exactly is the issue your having ?

If you try to use the 7 plate clutch setup the primary cover won't go on.

Thanks Ferrous Head

I assume from the sportster manual that the very first steel plate (backing plate) has the recessed section facing out?

I keep breaking the clutch release worm lever!

Cheers

It’s a top notch item.

Hi All,

So I’m still having trouble with my clutch.

If I adjust it as per the manual the clutch lever is hard to pull in me the clutch doesn’t disengage.

If I loosen the nuts right off about 11.5mm the clutch lever is easier to use and it disengages.

I can probably leave it like this but I would like to know the answer why.

Does a KR run heavier springs or something like that?

Thanks
Dave

Tim, the links won't work anymore. Since the XLForum went to a new site old links are no longer valid.
