'69 XLCH.......... there's an anti theft code on the right side of the frame by the neck and one on the lower fork bracket (stem) padlock lug. They don't match. One is K1757 an the other is like K5665 (to lazy to verify- I've been drinking). I have every reason to believe that the fork brack is original to the frame......question= were they suppose to match? or was this normal?

Joe, I have been told that the frame anti theft codes were introduced sometime in the 62 model year and the lower tree codes were introduced in 1968 with the incorporation of the fork lock bracket. These are independent but recorded as part of the factory build data, which includes VIN, belly numbers, frame manufacturing code, as applicable frame and tree security codes, tire manufacturing data, color and ship to dealer.
