I am trying to reinstall the timer / distributor on my KHK. I have probably done this a gazillion times on other bikes but have recently developed a brain fog.

I have the single vertical line on the flywheel centered within the inspection hole on the engine case when the front cylinder is on the compression stroke.

There is a scribed line on the top of the timer cam shaft. Is that line supposed to be pointed towards the engine at a 90 degree angle or ???

Is there a you tube or picture diagram that anyone can refer me to to make sure that I get this correct?

The scribed line aligns with the points wiper when the timer is dropped in place. It points away from the engine. You need to timer top sitting in place to stab it correctly and have the timer cable post roughly in the middle of its range.
